Wireless Stereo Speakers

The audio industry has developed a lot in the last decades. The speakers these days can be really powerful, and we are not talking here about the professional speakers for concerts, but about the speakers for the home users. By using some powerful floorstanding speakers or speakers combined with a subwoofer, a home user can bring the sound of a night club or concert into his own room. Or if he is using a surround sound system, he can bring the sensations from the cinema right into his home. But to do all of this, the user will have to set up many cables all over his room. And this can really be a problem if he has a small and crowded room. But this is not a problem anymore, because engineers had developed some good wireless speakers. Yes this is true, there will be no more wires hanging on your desk and especially under it. You won’t be stopped by the length of the wires, and you will be able to place the speakers anywhere you want in your room. You can even take them with you in another room or outside the house. Just be sure to be in the specified range from the transmitter.

The sound must be transmitted from some kind of device, and that’s why beside the two speakers you will also get transmitter. This usually has a specified range ( that can vary from 150 to 300 feet). But the range does not always match the reality, because there were users saying that the speakers were not working at a certain distance from the transmitter, lower than the specified range. The range also varies with the environment. If you have thin walls, the radio waves will travel easier and the speakers will sound better. But if there are many thick walls that the waves had to go through, or other obstacles, the sound may not be so good. That’s why it would be perfect if before you buy some wireless stereo speakers, you agree with the vendor to let you test them in your own house. In this test you can place them all over your home, and see where the sound is good and where it isn’t.

Before buying a set of wireless speakers it is good to make some research on the internet, and on other people that used wireless speakers before. Read as many reviews as you can find, to make sure that your future speakers will sound good, and you won’t have problems with them.

Some speakers that are known to be good are the AW 871 wireless stereo speakers from Acoustic Research. You can buy them for a price of 180 dollars and they will sound pretty good. The frequency of the radio waves is 900 Mhz, and they will easily travel in your house, through walls, floors, ceilings or other obstacles, delivering a nice stereo sound for the user. The range for this model is quite big, up to 300 feet. As we mentioned before, these number can vary depending the environment, but anyway it is a quite good distance. So you can use them both in any room of your house, and also outside. They have a pretty good power of  20 watts RMS (10 watts per channel), so this means you can even throw an outdoor party using these speakers. You can connect them to your computer, but they are compatible with many other audio sources such as TV-s, VCR-s, CD or DVD players, cassette players, MP3 players and others.

They also include a headphones jack, for the times when you want to enjoy some music alone, without disturbing the others around. They have a 1 inch dome tweeter and a 4 inch woofer, and the frequency response is between 20 hz and 20.000 hz. So this means the  AW 871 speakers will deliver a rich sound, with both a deep bass and good high sounds. The signal to noise ratio is > 55 db and the stereo separation is > 20 db. The distortion is less than 1.5 %. They also have buttons for auto tuning, so just by a press of a button the speakers will adjust with the transmitter.

The speakers can work both in mono or stereo. You can use them in stereo when you have them in the same room, or you can choose mono when the speakers are in different room. So each speaker will give all of the sound, and will not depend on the sound from the other speaker. To control them you have to use just a single knob, for volume and power on / off. The two speakers are pretty small, and lightweight and they also feature built in handles, so you can easily carry them around with you.

The speakers work with rechargeable batteries, and whenever they are connected in with the AC power adapters, the batteries will recharge automatically.

One negative issue about the wireless speakers is that the radio waves that come from the transmitter may interfere with other waves, from other devices in your home. So you might be careful with this, and if you see that they interfere with something, try to change their position.

So if you are tired of wires, and you want to enjoy the perfect stereo sound, and place the speakers wherever you want in your house, then you should definitely choose some wireless stereo speakers. This was just a model, and of course there are many more on the market. If you have, or used some wireless speakers, just share all your opinions with us, no matter if they are positive or negative reviews.
