Why Will My Logitech USB Speakers Not Play Computer Sounds

Today we are going to focus on just one type of these speakers, the USB speakers (also called “travel speakers”). These are usually very small and lightweight speakers, allowing you to take them with you on the road, and easily place them in your luggage. But the biggest advantage of them is that they have only one cable. This one is used both for the power and for the audio signal, meaning that you won’t need any batteries or power source…the speakers will take their power right from the laptop or computer. So you won’t even need a sound card to use these speakers…just plug them in the USB port and they will work. But sometimes it may happen that when you connect your new USB speakers to the computer, they might not work.

So if you are asking yourself “Why will my Logitech USB speakers not play computer sounds?” here are some solutions for you. First of all you have to be sure that the USB port where you connected the speakers is working properly. So you might try first to plug in another USB device (such as a USB stick, or a printer or anything else) and see if that device is working. If those devices also don’t work, it might be a problem with that USB port. But luckily most of the computers have more than one USB ports, so just try to plug in the speakers in another port, and hope that in this one they will work.
If you still don’t hear any sound from the speakers, then you can try to go into the “Volume control” from your computer. Go here and check if the Master Volume and the Wave volume are turned all the way up. Actually it will be best to turn all of the volumes up, because you never know which one might interfere with the overall sound. Also be careful at the Mute option. A volume level may be at its maximum, but if that channel is muted, you will still have no sound. So that’s why you have to be sure that no Mute option is checked.

Since the USB speakers are working on a digital connection, and there won’t be any conversion into analog, the problem won’t have anything to do with the sound card of the computer. Actually you can even take the sound card off, and the USB speakers will still work. Here were some solutions if you encountered problems with the sound from your Logitech USB speakers.
