S315i offers excellent sound quality, is durable and has very compact design that makes it more attractive appearance wise. Overall it’s a good carry to go kind of speaker for iPhone users. Designers have really worked hard upon its design. Flat black color is appealing to the eyes. It’s rectangle in shape with slight curve in the middle. S315i is 10 inches wide, one inch deep and 5 inches tall that makes it easy to carry in bag, or purse.
The speaker has flip-out kick stand that basically covers iPhone dock when not in use. Ports available on the back side of S315i are covered using rubber flap. Front side of S315i has volume, bass buttons that makes it easy for the user to adjust the volume. One DC input point is there for power adapter along with one line-in jack to connect any non-iPod audio source. Two buttons are available for controlling volume on the right side of the speaker while power button is just above the kickstand. Power switch has three options: on, off and power save. In power save mode, you can play the speakers up to 20 continuous hours running on the battery. There is one LED light under the front speaker grille that indicates the battery life. Green light means more than 40 % of power is left, orange means between 5 and 40 %, red means below 5 %.
Battery compartment is at the bottom of the speaker that has four AA batteries. S315i has two 2.5 inch speakers that hold rechargeable battery. On wall mounted power it can run up to 10 hours and on efficient power mode it can run up to 20 hours. It was quite hard for its manufacturers to explain the performance of Logitech S315i as it alternates in audio quality from song to song. In some case music sounded too smooth while in other it may have some kind of distortion. Bass boosting options help in some tracks that require suitable amount of bass but at another track you may have to turn off the bass booster if it is not required.
Sometimes S315i sounds like a radio while another moment it sounds much clear and better. Negative point with power saving mode is that it affects the audio quality. You can check this issue while taking trial of it. Music will sound thin in power save mode but in main power mode, sound quality is simply superb.
S315i speaker will definitely satisfy the listeners who listen to the music just to relax while those who take music as their profession may not like it that much.
