Remote Stereo Speakers

Along with the development of the computers, the speakers also evolved a lot in the last decades. Today you can find all kinds of speakers, in many sizes, shapes and prices. There are on the market a lot of very small speakers, and they are some really big. But the size is not directly correlated to the sound quality, because you can find many small speakers that  sound really good and also many big speakers that doesn’t sound so good. The shapes of the speakers our days are really diversified. Not all the speakers have the classical square or rectangular shape, and there are all sort of shapes. For example you can find speakers that have the shape of a small robot, or a round shape, or a triangular shape and there even are some speakers that are looking just like a gargoyle or like a dragon. Many things had changed in the last years in the audio industry, and today it is not even necessary to have a AC plug for your speakers. There are many models running on batteries, or which are getting their power through an USB cable right from the computer or laptop. You don’t even need cables for your speakers, because today you can find many models of wireless speakers. All of them are having a transmitter, which gets the signal from the computer (or from other music device) and transmits it through radio waves to the speakers.  There are all sort of wireless speakers, from one-unit devices to stereo speakers and even surround sound systems. Some of this models are also featuring remote controls, to allow a better control over the volume and other useful features.

So today we are going to take some examples of remote stereo speakers and discuss more about each one. Let’s begin with the “Audio Unlimited 900 MHz Wireless Indoor and Outdoor Speakers with Remote”. They have quite a long name, but anyway let’s begin to talk about them. They have quite a nice design and they come in two colors. A black version (which is probably for boys) that costs 99 dollars, and a pink version (this one must be for the girls) that costs 112 dollars. We are not sure why you have to pay more for the pink version, but anyway we suggest to choose the black version because it will fit easier with your room. But of course, if you are a big fan of pink and all you’re house is covered with pink objects, then you should definitely get the pink version :). Like any model of wireless speakers they also have a transmitter that works on 900 mhz technology, and which will transmit the sound all the way to the speakers, up to a distance of 150 feet away. So this way you can have the computer with the music in one room, one of the speakers in another room and the other speaker in the kitchen. Or you can have both of the speakers in the same room, and you can even take them outside. They are water resistant so they will hold in almost any weather condition. Being water proof, it means that you can always take the speakers in the bathroom, and enjoy some music while taking a shower. They have a special technology that will tune the speakers to the best frequency, trying to give you the best sound possible with none or less interferences. These speakers are easy to use, and also easy to install.  Just attach the transmitter to the computer (or any other device such as TV, stereo, cd player etc.) and enjoy the sound. As we mentioned before you will also receive a remote control to give you more control over the sound. Each of the speakers has a 3 inch rubber edge woofer and a 2 inch mylar cone tweeter. So this means the sound will be rich, with a pretty nice bass and some good high sounds. The total power is 10 watts RMS, so this means 5 watts for each speaker. Well this is not a lot, but it can be enough to listen to in the bathroom, kitchen, or near the pool. The signal to noise ratio is 65 db, and each speaker has dimensions of 5.12 inch height and 10.43 inch width. The speakers even have an ipod or iphone adapter, so you can enjoy the music from this device (if you have one, of course).

Now let’s move on to another product, and this time we’ll choose the Boston Acoustics Horizon Duo Stereo – Mist. This one has a similar price to the speakers presented before – 99 dollars. But the features are quite different. Actually this is not a set of wireless speakers, but a device that works individually -  a stereo AM / FM radio device, that also has an alarm clock feature with sleep timer. It has 2 full range speakers that are measuring 3.1/2 inch in diameter. So it is  not a wireless speaker, but the device also comes with a remote control, so it fits into our subject today – the remote stereo speakers.

Another cool device, that has a transmitter and a speaker is the EOS 100 T1RB black satellite speaker system. The price for this one is a little higher: around 200 dollars. The system has a docking base station, which is also the transmitter. Here you will be able to place your ipod or connect auxiliary analog input to play music from any other audio source (computer, cd player, mp3 player etc.). The transmitter will send the music signal to a wireless speaker, that you can place in any room of your home, or even outdoor. Even though it is just one speaker, it has two integrated speakers, making it a stereo speaker. So you can have a nice stereo sound from your ipod, or any other device, in any room of the house, and enjoy some nice music. The ratings and reviews for this system are quite good, and most of the users are giving 4 stars out of 5.
