New Computer With Vista And Old Speakers Volume Is Real Low

The biggest software producer in the whole world is Microsoft. It is certain that anyone who used a computer also used a Microsoft product. The company was founded in 1975 by the famous Bill Gates and Paul Allen, in the United States of America. The company developed so much, that today it has many factories all over the world, with more than 50.000 employees. Microsoft invented, and its still producing today the most famous and used operating system in the world, called Windows. It was first made in 1985 with the name of "Microsoft Windows 1.0". In time there were many upgrades to the system and so they appeared Windows 2.0, Windows 286, 386 or NT. The system become more and more popular so the company continued to improve this operating system. In 1995 there was made the Windows 95, followed by Windows 98, 2000 and Millenium. More and more people were buying a computer for their personal use and most of them were using a Windows operating system. The most popular system of Microsoft was the Windows XP, and was launched in 2001. Even though it's old, and there appeared other systems in the mean time (such as Windows Longhorn in 2005 and Vista in 2007), many people are still using the Windows XP. The newest version of the operating system is called Windows 7 and was launched just 1 month ago, in 22 October 2009. So we don't have enough informations yet to tell you about this system.
The operating systems got better and better each year, with new features and improvements, but it is hard for the users to keep up with all these modifications because they can't change their computer, or computer components each year, or even once in 2 years. That's why many people are having difficulties with their components that were working on older versions of Windows, but are not working on the new ones. An example is when you buy a new computer with Vista and the old speakers volume is real low.

Many users had this problem and some of them hear the volume real low, and some may not hear it at all, but the problem is usually the same and has the same solution. You will find many questions and answers on different computer forums, and one of them can be the good solution for you. All you have to do is try as many of them, and see which will work for you. It all depends on what type of speakers you use, and what type of computer you have.
Now we'll be presenting some of these solutions, leaving the rest up to you. If you have some very old speakers that have more than 10 or even 20 years old it's a normal thing that they won't work on a operating system from 2007 such as Windows Vista. In this case they just aren't compatible, and there is not much for you to do, then to buy some new speakers.

It is also possible that you just didn't plugged the computer speakers into the correct connector. The new computer may have a different kind of sound card, so the placement of the connectors is different than the one on your old computer. If you are not sure how to connect the speakers just check the instructions manual that you received with the computer's main board. It is possible that your sound card may look like this one. The right placement of speakers may depend on the type and the number of the speakers you have. For example the arrangement of a 5.1 system will be different than the one for some classic stereo speakers.
Something else that you can do to solve the problem is to update your sound drivers. You will find them on the producer's official site or on other software sites and you have to be really careful to choose the right driver for your type of speakers. After installing the appropriate drivers and softwares it is necessary to open them and see if the volumes are not muted. You must turn up the volumes on each track and be careful that none of the "Mute" options is activated. You must do the same thing in the "Microsoft volume mixer", that you will find on your taskbar, in the lower right side.

You also have to check if the correct number of speakers is selected in the software. If you are using a 5.1 audio system, be sure that this is the option selected from the menu. You don't want to select stereo, headphones, 2.1, 7.1 or other options.
After you are ready with this you have to make a test and see if all the speakers are working and that they have the right volume. Most of the audio softwares have this option included, just look for "speaker test" or something like that. Here you will have to press on each of the speakers from the screen, and see if you hear any sound in that specific speaker. If you press on a rear speaker, and you hear a sound in a different speaker, it is probably because you have inserted the connectors in the wrong jack, so you must switch them between each other, until you have the correct order. When you press a left rear speaker you will have to hear a sound in that speaker, when you press the subwoofer you must hear a deep tone and so on.

If you tried all of these and the volume is still very low, there might be a problem with the new computer. To check if your new computer's sound card is working fine, you can ask a friend to lent you his speakers and try to connect them on your new computer. If you still have the same problem, that means the computer or its sound card is broken. So in this case you must contact the store where you got the computer from. The problem will be fixed if you have a warranty.

Sometimes after you install the audio drivers there may be necessary to restart your computer. So if you are lucky, the problem may be fixed after the restart.
But if you tried all these solutions and many other on your new computer with Vista and the old speakers volume is still real low, then there is not much for you to do then to contact the store or the person that sold you the computer. And maybe they will be able to solve your problem.
