If you mix a good-sounding, well-designed, relatively inexpensive product with a well-known company you have got yourself the Logitech mm50, a greatly popular portable ¡Pod speaker unit. In the idea of improving on a nice piece of technology, Logitech has finally designed a follow-up almost two years later. The new unit, named the Pure-Fi Anywhere, offers a more advanced remote and improved sound for the same affordable price we are used to.

he Logitech Pure Fi Anywhere Portable ¡Pod speakers are a set of portable speakers with digital player dock designed by Logitech. They are created for ¡Pods and ¡Phones. The speakers have a built-in, come with an innovative wall charger and a travel case. They sound great. The remote included permits you to navigate through the ¡Pod's menus.

The design is piano black and is 13.2 in x 1.5 in x 3.6 (Weight, Diagonal, Height) large. The portable speakers have flip out metal- designed legs on the back that clasp for compact storage. There are some basic playback control buttons across the top, called One- touch control, like Shuffle or Repeat. The ¡Pod or ¡Phone fits in the middle of the device. Along with the clamshell carrying case, Logitech Pure Fi Anywhere Portable ¡Pod speakers include nine ¡Pod dock adapters, that will assure a secure fit for any generations of ¡Pod previously released (besides the Shuffle), but unfortunately they do not include the latest ¡Pods' shapes. So if you have one of those newer ¡Pods, like a 3G Nano or the Classic, use the adaptor that came with them. Speaking of non-¡Pod MP3 players or those with Shuffles, the speakers gets along with them using a line-in port set on the unit's back. Still, you are going to have to provide your personal cable. The Logitech Pure Fi Anywhere Portable ¡Pod speakers can only charge them using the 30-pin connector, and solely if the system is plugged into wall power with the aid of the AC adapter included.

The mp3 players that are compatible to Anywhere Speakers are: ¡Pod nano, ¡Pod with color display, ¡Pod with video (5G), ¡Pod (4G), ¡Pod photo, ¡Pod mini, and ¡Pod nano (aluminum) (2G).

The last can fold in and has a kind of an appendage for wrapping the cable and storing it while on transport. Once the cable is wrapped up, it fits nicely in the place you put the ¡pod and you can take it with you.

The wireless remote is improved by adding the second control pad that lets in and out of the menu of the ¡pod. A lot of the new remotes for speakers have started to come about. Which is good, because you do not have to come back to the speakers to change the menu. The bad part is that it only has a 10 m range, which is not very good. It fits very well in an clamshell carrying case. The system used is based on infrared.

The Logitech Pure Fi Anywhere Portable ¡Pod speakers might not be the most compact portable speakers ever seen, but they provide great sound and useful extras for an affordable price. The warranty is two years long.
