Hooking Up 5.1 Logitech Speakers To Sound Blaster

Among its speakers you can find some pretty good models of 5.1 surround sound systems. Some examples are: the Logitech X 540 system or the Logitech Z 5500 system. If you just bought a new 5.1 audio system from Logitech and you want to enjoy its best sound quality, you will also need to buy a 5.1 sound card (unless you don’t already have one). You can find many good sound cards on the market, and some of the bests are the cards from the Sound Blaster family, produced by Creative. There are many sound cards in this family, and each one has different purposes…some of them are more suited for games, others for music and others for movies. An example of a good sound card that is good for all the activities mentioned above is the PCI Express Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium.

On this sound card you will find 7 ports, and here they are: the first port (the blue one) is for a microphone or a portable music player (mic in / line in), the next four ports (green, light blue, orange and black) are for the speakers (stereo, 5.1 and even 7.1 surround sound systems), the next one (grey) is for an audio / video receiver (optical out) and the last port is the optical out port which can be used for a MiniDisc Player or a game console.
The instructions about hooking up 5.1 Logitech speakers to the Sound Blaster are quite simple: all you have to do is plug in the three connectors that the audio system has into the sound card. The job is simple and all you have to do is match them by colors (the orange connector into the orange jack and so on). After plugging in all the three connectors it is not necessary the you will have sound.

Now you also have to install the appropriate software and drivers. Some systems and sound cards won’t require any drivers, but you will still have to go into the “Volume control” from your Windows and make sure that all of the volume levels are up, and that none of the channels is muted. So good luck and enjoy your new Logitech 5.1 system and your Sound Blaster sound card!
