Creative GigaWorks S750
I used to think that Logitech’s Z-5500 5.1speakers were the cream of the crop for desktop PCs. 505 W RMS of power seemed noisy already. But this was before I found out about Creative’s Gigaworks 7.1 speakers. OK, you can’t really compare 5.1 with 7.1, but Logitech’s brand name is enough to allow this.
The Creative GigaWorks™ S750 7.1 speaker system is THX compliant, and this alone could explain everything. OK, these speakers aren’t exactly new, but they are quite ahead of their time, incorporating Titanium Super Tweeters for high-frequency response and superb results with DVD-Audio ever since 2004. When used with a Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi 7.1 card, the speaker’s potential is truly unleashed, delivering an astonishing surround experience in movies and games. With the aid of the advanced CMSS up-mix feature, they can also be used with 5.1 and 6.1 sound cards to create a powerful acoustic environment.

For extensive connectivity you get a line-in input, a headphone jack and Creative M-PORT for use with compatible MP3 players. You even get a handy wireless remote, which gives extended control over volume, tone and surround settings.
Here are some more details:
• Use with Sound Blaster cards sound cards for breathtaking 7.1 results with Dolby Digital EX and DTS-ES movies and EAX ADVANCED HD games.
• THX approval assures acoustic excellence and state-of-the-art technology.
• Creative CMSS function up-mixes 5.1 or 6.1 content to 7.1 surround.
• Speaker Specifications:
o 70 Watts RMS per channel (7 channels)
o 210 Watts RMS subwoofer
o Frequency Response: 20Hz ~ 40kHz
o SNR: 99dB
You can find this system for about $400 at e-tailers across the Internet.
