Computer Speakers Reviews

Published by HqSpeakers, on February 9th, 2010, in the categories: Logitech

The computer market had known a great evolution in the last years. Many years ago the computers were just some big and unpractical devices, that were used only for scientific or military reasons. But in time they become more and more practical, smaller, and also capable of doing more and more operations, so they become popular among the home users.

There are so many activities that someone can do at a computer, for example watch a movie, play a video game or listen to some music. But for all of these actions  he will also need some sound. And to have sound at your computer you will need some speakers. The speakers also evolved a lot, along with the evolution of the computer. Many years ago there were just some small speakers integrated on the main board, but today most of the speakers are external.

The old internal speakers were not sounding so good, but it’s not the same for the external speakers these days. Some of them are featuring some really advanced technologies, and they sound really good, bringing a great audio experience right at your home. They come in all sort of shapes, sizes and prices, and there will be a set of speakers for anyone, no matter their taste in music or their preferences in design.

There are also many audio producers on the market, and here are just some of the big names:  Harman Kardon, Altec Lansing, Creative, Bose, Logitech, Boston Acoustics, JBL, Klipsch and many more. Each company is offering all sort of speakers, audio systems and accessories. So let’s pick a random model of speakers and make a computer speakers review about them.

We’ll take a product from Logitech, and we’ll choose the Logitech Z 2300 which is a 2.1 system. A 2.1 system is composed out of 2 small satellite speakers and a subwoofer. The subwoofer will give the deep and low sound frequencies (the bass) and will complete the sound of the two satellites. As you can see the Logitech Z 2300 has quite a nice and simple design so it will easily fit in your room. And it is not so big after all, so it can fin even in a crowded room. But this system doesn’t just look good it  also sounds really nice and powerful. It has a total power of 200 watts RMS, and a peak power of 400 watts.

This system will really rock your room, and also the rooms of your neighbors, in case you turn it really loud. The sound will be good all the way, even at high volumes and there will be no distortion. The system even has the THX approval, meaning that it is  certified by experts to sound good. The power is divided into 40 watts for each satellite speaker and 120 watts RMS for the subwoofer. You can use it with your computer, but it is also compatible with other music players, such as CD, DVD or MP3 player.

Each satellite speaker has dimensions of 17.2 cm in height, 8.9 cm in width and 15.2 cm in depth and the subwoofer has 27.9 cm in height, 27.9 cm in width and 38.1 cm in depth. These aren’t tiny speakers but they are  not big at all, so they are just perfect for your desk. They cost around 150 dollars but you can find them even cheaper in some retail stores or on auction sites. Beside the two speakers and the subwoofer the system also comes with a very useful control pod. This device has the on and off power button, the volume knob, the volume control for the bass and also a headphones jack for the times  when you want to enjoy some music by yourself.
