The first computers had a very small speaker, integrated on the main board. But the quality of those speakers wasn't so good, and people wanted more. So this way they created the computer speakers. First there were only 2 small ones, but in time the technology has developed a lot, and now we have many types of computer speakers, from standard small speakers to computer speaker systems.

The standard speakers that most of the computers are offering can not satisfy everyone's needs, because they usually don't have enough power and quality. So that's why it is recommended to buy a computer speaker system. You have big variety of products and producers to choose from.

You have three categories of sound systems, depending on the size of your room, and the power and the quality that you wish to have. Depending on the number of speakers they have the systems can be 2.1 systems (2 speakers and a subwoofer), 5.1 systems (5 speakers and a subwoofer) or 7.1 systems (7 speakers and a subwoofer). Now we will discuss about each component of a computer speaker system. First there is the center channel. It usually gives the voice sounds, such as the actors in a movie or the singers in a song, and that's why it is one of the most important speakers in a sound system, and it really needs to be placed in front of the listener.

The next big component of the system is the sub woofer. It renders the low and deep sound frequencies, and it really completes the sound brought by the center channel and the satellites. But you must be really careful with the volume of the subwoofer when you are listening to music. The last components of a sound system are the satellites. Even if they seem so small, they also have an important part in a system, and they complete the sound set. The small surround speakers usually give the mid range sounds, and as we mentioned before it is important to place them exactly as the producer suggested.

If you are using the appropriate sound card, you will be very satisfied with this system, and you won't need anything else. It has 150 W RMS, and this is more than enough for a living room. Sometimes you won't even have to turn the volume upper than it's half, because it would be too loud for you and the persons you are living with. It's the same thing with the sub woofer, if you turn the volume up above the middle level, you will start to feel the windows pumping. It doesn't cost more than 100 or 150 euros, and that makes him so available and so demanded by most of the home users.

Of course, if you do not want a sound system offered by Genius, you can choose one from a different producer. All the big audio producers have a wide diversity of computer speaker systems.

First of all there is Creative, the world biggest company of audio equipments. It offers many good products such as computer speakers, sound cards, mp3 players, headphones, digital and web cams, revolutionary music keyboards and of course many audio systems.

Another famous producer of audio equipment is JBL. Besides the production of computer speakers it is also making car speakers and professional equipments for the entertainment industry. Either if you knew it or not you might have enjoyed the quality of JBL products at a concert, as a part of a big crowd. And it also has many speaker systems for you to choose from.

Logitech is also one of the leaders on the audio equipments market. Just like Genius it produces other devices for computers such as mouse, keyboards, joysticks or gaming wheels, but it also has many good audio systems.

There are also many other producers which offers you great sound quality through their speakers systems. Some of them are: Altec, M Audio, Klipsch, Boston Acoustics or Harman Kardon.
