Cerwin-Vega AB-36B Afterburner Subwoofer

It’s the Folded-Horn Bass Subwoofer from Cerwin-Vega, the AB-36B Afterburner model. It features the latest technology in the form of an incredibly efficient folded hyperbolic horn design. This enables the enclosure to contain a longer horn, which amplifies the bass frequencies while keeping the enclosure compact in size for portability. The path length and flare rate yields a theoretical cutoff of 30Hz of bone crushing low-end. Sweet bass power to demolish that humongous house of yours!

Now, you have to trust me on this one. Cerwin-Vega might sound like it’s a far away star, but it’s actually a reputed loudspeaker maker that guarantees you’ll never use any other conventional subwoofer once you try their Folded-Bass one. Just to let you know, the folded horns have been acoustically optimized to achieve high output and low distortion while maintaining clarity and impact. They even took special care of the rear chamber, throat geometry and horn profile.
Cerwin-Vega’s folded horns are designed to deliver 6dB more output at 1 watt than a dual 18” vented box. This results in four times the output with half the number of drivers. Feast your eyes on these specs:
• Frequency Response: 30 Hz - 300 Hz
• Peak Power Handling: 1500 watts
• Program Power Handling: 750 watts
• Nominal Impedance: 8 Ohms
• Sensitivity (1w/1m): 108 dB
• Connections: 1/4"Phone, Neutrik Speakon
• 18" Woofer with 4 " Voice Coil
• Durable Multi-Ply Construction
• High Quality Carpet for Durability
You’d say it costs too much, right? Not quite! $899 seems a good deal for what it’s worth.
