Miidio Vibro-Speakers

Here’s an interesting speaker design from Miidio. In fact, it’s not an ordinary speaker at all. It’s a vibro-speaker, and according to Miidio it receives the signal from any music device and transforms the surface on which it stands into an effective and powerful speaker. Each speaker features a specially designed inner core and base plate that drives sound waves into the surface on which it is placed, amplifying the resulting sound through means of vibrations. On top of this you get to choose among three different shapes: the Keg, the UFO and the Piggy, all of them capable of 15 w RMS.

Any 3.5mm audio jack equipped device can be used with these speakers. Just pop your iPod, MP3 player, laptop, PC, multimedia mobile phone and many other hand-held devices into one of these speakers and there you have it! Great sound, no matter the place. All you have to do is hit play and you got 360-degree sound with no additional surround speakers.

Miidio even provides some info regarding the technology behind these apparently simple speakers. What do we have here?… Let’s see: some patented electro-acoustic technology based on a crystalline core with which speaker generate and focus extremely powerful sound waves down through the base and into whatever surface it stands on. OK, we got that figured, sort of. But what about the materials that work best with sound vibrations? Miidio sais a huge variety of surfaces including glass, wood or plastic tables, shelves, window sills or floorboards would work a charm with their speakers.
