Microlab 2.1 Multimedia Speakers
Published by dipti, on June 22nd, 2011, in the categories: Microlab
Microlab 2.1 multimedia speakers have unique features that only a true music lover can understand. Once you buy the speakers, the first thing that you are going to notice is the Satellite and the Sub. Upon removing, you will find some instructions manual and cable that has to be attached to the speakers. The satellites are quite stylish with a perfect color theme and Sub looks quite decent.

If you look at the back side of the satellite, you will find wire connections, a removable stand and a hole that helps the speaker to be mounted on a wall. You can take off the front portion of satellite but it is advisable not to do such thing as visually it will not look good. If we talk about sub, there are 3 adjustable knots available on the front portion: Volume, Treble and Bass. These volume knobs control overall sound quality of the speakers. If you take a look at the back of the sub you will see an Audio Input plug, On/Off switch and an Audio output. Critics believe that it would have been more convenient if the volume controls were on the satellites instead of the sub. If you look inside satellite, you will find nothing but a hollow plastic mold and the speaker. If you open the sub, you will find that the entire box is made up of wood and inside it a built-in amplifier is attached.
If you play these speakers with your favorite music, you may get to know that the initial sound quality is quite impressive but the bass is little weak. If you test sub for bass-intensive sound, you will get to know that the sub is quite weak, it does not have much power to deliver. The speakers perform well with all type of music qualities but only when the music is low. If you want to test sound quality of this speaker, try to play songs that contain treble and bass in good proportion. While playing such songs, you will notice that treble is okay but the bass is little weak so we can say that speaker is not that spectacular but I am sure you will be impressed by the sound quality of this speaker if you know the price. The speakers cost around $35.00. If you turn up the volume, you will find that the bass does not have much power at all. Overall this speaker is good for soft music. You can also check the quality of sound through movies so you can try some of the best action movies like The Matrix, Saving Private Ryan. The sound of water splashing and bullet zipping is quite good but the exploding sound is weak and is unable to excite its viewers. Once you have watched the movie you will realize that the speakers could have been stronger from the bass concept.
This speaker has been designed very carefully with the finest technology and craftsman skill. Microlab brings expertise in speaker technology and brings out the best in media player audio spectrum. You can enhance and produce digital playback sound to high quality standards. If we talk about the features of Microlab 2.1 speakers, it has got Reflex bass 5.25” S12 woofer along with 2 x 2.5” V12 full range speakers that is designed by Denmark master Peter Larsen. If you want to take the testing of this speaker to next level, you should play some spectacular game like Counter-Strike and Battle Field 1942.
The sound quality of Microlab speakers in Counter-Strike was quite impressive and makes your toes tingle along with clear ambient sound but if you turn up the volume too high then you will lose its quality. In Battle Field 1942, the sound of tanks and bombs dropping require good bass quality, so you will find a bit of dullness at these stages in game.
Overall Microlab 2.1 speaker is good if you are not too much conscious about bass quality or else it will be hard for you to take decision whether to choose it or not.

Microlab did a pretty good job going for an ultra sleek look for this system. The casual movie watcher will be pleased with this one, but Microlab actually recommends it for serious audiophiles. The system features slim front and surround speakers that are perfectly suited for either floor-standing or wall-mounted applications. Each satellite integrates a high-quality 1” domed-tweeter flanked by twin 3”midrange drivers designed by Mr. Peter Larsen. Profound bass frequencies are smoothly handled bya responsive 8” subwoofer. The system also comes standard with a remote control and digital display to facilitate a more comfortable interaction.
Here are some other important features:
- Volume is controlled by 6 channels motor potentiometer
- A perfect acoustic effect could be reached if connected to the
audio source with AC-3 or DTS decoder.
- Enhanced subwoofer with acoustic Air Flow Design to reach
a powerful bass performance.
- Magnetically shielded satellites.
Additional tech specs include:
- Power Output: 110W + 32Wx5 RMS
- Frequency Response: Subwoofer 20Hz~150Hz
Satellite 150Hz~20KHz
- Input Sensitivity : 380mV
- Harmonic Distortion: 0.3% 1W 1KHz

B73 and M880 Speakers from microlab
Published by Sierra, on January 31st, 2008, in the categories: Microlab

Microlab added several new speaker systems including the B-73 Stereo Amplified economic speaker and the M-880 Multimedia Speaker included in the portable and digital speakers category.
The B-73 features a 4-inch driver unit and the 1-inch treble driver, using 12 mm MDF for a pure sound, and 26W power output.
It is magnetically shielded having a frequency response between 20Hz and 20 KHz, with 330mV and 440mV sensitivity inputs.
If you need a super bass driver with some aerodynamic design and no distortion when the bass is enhanced, plus compatibility with PCs, portable audio players, laptops and 2-channel audio sources, you gotta check this 5.25-inch M-880 Multimedia Speaker system.

It has a brand new airflow passage design, delivers a clear sound using an extended frequency range and its electronic control technology allows a perfect bass signal selection.
The synchronous phase control technology ensures a clear bass sound being a good solution for slow frequency response.
M-880 has a power output of 16WX2+27W RMS, a frequency response of 40Hz-20HKHz, a harmonic distortion under 0.1%.
It has two satellites of 3 inches each measuring 105 x 125 x 210 mm and a subwoofer of 180 x 335 x 210 mm.
