Dell is a multinational technology corporation that develops, produces and sells personal computers and other products related to computers. The company comes from Texas, United States of America but today it has expanded all over the world. It has more than 76.000 employees in many countries. It appeared in 1984, and for many years it was the largest seller of computers and servers in the world. In 2009 it was placed on the third position on the computer’s market after Hewlett Packard and Acer. The company is selling many products like computers, servers, hard disks, network switches, software and other computer accessories. Dell also sells the products of other companies, such as High Definition TV-s, cameras, printers, speakers, MP3 players and others.
So today we are going to discuss about some Dell computer speakers. Like we mentioned before Dell sells (or attaches to its computers) products from other companies, and it is the same with the speakers. So the speakers we are going to present today are not made by Dell, but can be found on the Dell’s official site or stores. Let’s begin with a model of portable speakers, the N 400 USB speakers made by Creative. As the name says, these are portable speakers that are connected with the computer or laptop through an USB cable. This is the only cable they are using, because it is both for audio signal and power. So there is no need for batteries or other power source. The speakers are also quite small and compact so you can easily carry them around with you when you are traveling and use them with your laptop. The sound given by these speakers will be really good, rich and clear with a powerful bass. One of the speakers also has conveniently located multimedia controls allowing you quick access and control over your music. As we said the bass is quite good, and this is because the frequency response for these speakers that goes from 70 hz to 20.000 hz. The power for each speaker is 1 watt RMS (meaning that the total power is 2 watts RMS). Even this doesn’t sound like a lot, let’s not forget that they are connecting through the USB port, so the sound will remain digital all the way, and it is no conversion into analog. So these speakers will sound much better than some other normal stereo speakers with the power of 2 watts. They also come with a carrying pouch, making them even more easy to be carried. The ratings and reviews for these speakers are quite good, most of the users giving them 4 or 5 stars out of 5. They were all pleased with them, and they say that these speakers will sound much better than the integrated ones from your laptop.

This is 2.1 system made out of some very unique and unusual looking speakers. It has two tall and thin stereo speakers (that are looking just like sticks), and a very interesting subwoofer. They come at a price of 135 dollars and they have a total power of 40 watts RMS (10 watts for each satellite speaker and 20 watts for the subwoofer). This is not something to rock your house, but it is quite enough for a small apartment room. And with a design like this, you will definitely impress your friends. The system is compatible with Mac, PC and also with other music players such as CD or MP3 players. The right satellite has control buttons, that will give you control over the volume. Because the system has a subwoofer, you will definitely have a good bass, so the frequency response goes from 44 hz to 20.000 hz. Most of the users are giving this system a perfect score, and they all agree that it is looking really good. The subwoofer will also give a blue light, that will look really cool in the dark. They also agree that it sounds nice, giving a good bass and some crisp high sounds.
Let’s discuss one more set of speakers from the Dell’s site. So far we choose some stereo speakers, a 2.1 system, so now let’s choose a surround sound system (or 5.1 system). We’ll take the X 540 system made by Logitech. This one has a very good price of just 99 dollars. So it is even cheaper than the previous one that had 3 components, and this one has twice as much components. It has a subwoofer, a center channel and 4 satellite speakers. It doesn’t look as good as the SoundSticks, but it has a simple and nice design. But it will sound better, giving you a surround sound. For example when playing a game you can have the feeling that someone is attacking your from behind, and this is due to the placement of the satellite speakers. You will have a satellite speaker in each corner of the room, so there will be sound coming from all the directions. And of course the subwoofer will give you a nice and deep bass while the center channel will focus on the high sounds, such as the voices.
The system is not that big, and here are its dimensions: Right / left channel speaker : 3.2 in x 5 in x 8.4 in ; Right / left rear channel speaker : 3.2 in x 5 in x 8.4 in ; Center channel speaker : 7.8 in x 3.7 in x 4.8 in ; Subwoofer : 6.5 in x 9.8 in x 11.3 in. The total power of the system is 70 watts which is divided this way: 2 x right / left channel speaker - 7.4 Watts ; 2 x right / left rear channel speaker - 7.4 Watts; 1 x center channel speaker - 15.4 Watts ; 1 x subwoofer - 25 Watts. Beside all of these components the system also comes with a very useful control pod. This is a small device that you can place right next to your mouse, and with it you will be able to control the overall volume of the system.
So these were just some of the speakers found on Dell’s official site, but of course there are many more other models. You can find speakers from many big producers such as Creative, Logitech, Altec Lansing, Audiovox, JBL, Sony and others. And actually we just found out that there are some models produced by Dell, but since the speakers are not the specialty of Dell, we suggest to buy some speakers made by a big audio producer. So get a computer from Dell (because this is what Dell is very good at), and combine it with some speakers from JBL, Altec Lansing or any of the producers mentioned above. Good luck!
