There are two kinds of subwoofers:
Passive subwoofers, that have a subwoofer driver and enclosure and they are powered by an external amplifier; and Active subwoofers that include a built-in amplifier.
Cars are not usually suited to "hidden" the subwoofer in the door or in the dashboard. So subwoofers are installed in the trunk or back seat space. Some car audio enthusiasts compete to produce very high sound pressure levels in the confines of their vehicle's cabin being sometimes, dangerously high.

What if speakers wires marked with + and - are connected with interchanged connections from radio / Sound system
