One of the biggest producers of audio equipment in the world is Boston Acoustics. It has a long experience behind it and it was founded in 1979 by Fran Reed and Andy Kotsatos. First it was making just home equipments but now it is also making speakers for the audio market. It is making all kinds of speakers from subwoofers, center channels, satellite speakers, floor standing speakers, amplifiers, outdoor speakers and more.

In this article we’ll be talking about some of the Boston Acoustics computer speakers with a power of 200 watts.  First we’ll take the Boston Acoustics Speaker System Horizon MM 226 Midnight Black 200 Watts.

As you can notice from the picture, it has a pretty cool and very small design. It is a 2.1 audio system, that means it has 2 stereo speakers and a subwoofer. So the actually real power is 100 watts, and the 200 watts we talked about represents the dynamic output power. But still, this is pretty good for a 2.1 system. Beside the speakers and the subwoofer, the system also features a wired control pad with the volume controls, auxiliary input and headphones jack. Like we told you before they are quite small and here are the dimensions: a satellite speaker has 9 7/8 × 2 ¾ × 2 7/8 ” (251 × 70 x 73 mm) and a weight of just 2.6 lbs (1.1 kg). The subwoofer has dimensions of 8 ¾ × 123/4 ×12 3/4 (140 × 327 x 203 mm) and a weight of 13 lbs (6 kg). So after all it is a pretty good system which will worth its money.

Another product from Boston Acoustics with a power of 200 watts is the XB6 12-inch 200-watt Powered Subwoofer.



As you can see this also has a simple, black design. It features a large 12 inch Deep Channel woofer and powerful amplifier in a vented enclosure. Like we said it can be amplified up to a power of 200 watts, which is very good for just a subwoofer – imagine that you will have some extra 100 or more watts from the other speakers too. The subwoofer has a frequency response of 29 Hz up to 150 Hz.  It also has a weight of 28 lbs ( 12.7 kg) and dimensions of 13.94 inches in depth, 13.75 inches in height and 15.55 inches in width. So it is not so large after all, and can be easily placed under your desk, without taking a lot of space We said under your desk, because this is usually the place where it’s best to keep a subwoofer, to enjoy its best quality of the bass. This subwoofer also has the BassTrac technology from Boston Acoustics which allows you to play it at higher volumes, without too much distortion of sound. It also has provided variable crossovers, phase controls, rear-panel line and speaker level inputs. The volume control knob is placed on top of the subwoofer. The ratings for these subwoofer are pretty good, and people are usually giving it 4 or 5 stars out of 5. The home users are also satisfied with it , and recommend it especially for a small apartment. Now let’s talk about the Boston Acoustics GT-2200 200 watts amplifier. You don’t need just a very powerful amplifier to make your music sound good. Yes...you will get a higher volume of the sound, but it won’t be clean and with a high quality. So that’s why you need an amplifier which is both powerful and cleans up the signals. The Boston Acoustics GT-2200 does both of these things. It has a 200 watts per channel at 4 ohms and 350 watts at 2 ohms, so this means it is definitely powerful. If you connect it to a subwoofer you can go as high as 700 watts at 4 ohms and an incredible 900 watts at 2 ohms.
