The most popular digital music player in history is the iPod. It appeared just a few years ago (in 2001), and since then it sold millions of copies all over the world. It is a very small, portable device that is able to store hundreds of songs. But the latest models of iPods don’t store just music, they also can store movies, pictures, e-mail, calendars and other stuff. There are a few iPod models, and each one comes with some included headphones, to listen the music. But sometimes you may want to share the music with your friends, for example when being at a picnic, or at a party or somewhere else. And that’s why they appeared the iPod speakers (or iPod docks). These are usually small and compact devices, with integrated speakers, that are capable of giving the music from the iPod or iPhone. Today most of the big audio producers are making some models of iPod speakers, and today we are going to choose one of them – Bose.

Bose is a famous audio producers, which is selling its products all over the world. It makes all sort of audio devices, from home speakers to car speakers, headphones and of course iPod speakers. The company was founded back in 1964 by Amar G. Bose and since then it brought a lot of innovations to the audio market. The company has quite a big experience in this domain, so you can be sure to trust its products. You can find Bose’s speakers anywhere, from the space shuttles of NASA, to the National Theatre of Japan, from large arenas to stores and restaurants and of course in the privacy of your home.

So now let’s take some models of Bose iPod speakers and discuss more about each one. We’ll begin with the SoundDock® Series II digital music system. It is a simple and elegant iPod dock, that will fit anywhere in your kitchen, bedroom, living room so practically anywhere in your home. Beside iPods and iPhones, it can also be used with other music player devices, such as MP3, CD or DVD player. It comes with a useful remote control, that will allow you to change the volume, the song or to turn the device on and off. It comes in black or grey, and it has dimensions of 6.65 " H x 11.91 " W x 6.48 " D ( 16.89 cm x 30.26 cm x 16.47 cm ). It weighs just 4.56 lbs (2 kg) so you will easily be able to carry it around with you. The price for this nice iPod dock is 300 dollars. Enjoy it!


Now let’s talk about the device called SoundDock 10 digital music system. This one also has a very simple design, but which can be just what most of the people will want. But the sound quality won’t be so simple and normal, and it will give quite a nice and powerful sound. This one also has an included woofer, so it means that it will bring you a good bass, with a deep and powerful sound. It can also be connected to an iPod or iPhone, but also to other music players (CD, MP3, etc). This device is great for parties, gatherings or simply for your own personal pleasure. As we said the sound will be complex, with both a deep bass and some good high sounds. Like the producer says: “you probably never heard your iPod to sound so good”. But you will have to pay quite a big price for this, and the device costs 600 dollars. It is up to you to decide if you want to buy a simple, one-piece iPod dock, or spend these money for something else. With 600 dollars you can easily buy some powerful floorstanding speakers, or a good surround sound system or home cinema system. Anyway, this device has dimensions of 8.7 " H x 17 " W x 9.6 " D ( 22.1 cm x 43.2 cm x 24.4 cm ) and weighs 18 lbs (8 kg).



Practically Bose offers just three models of iPod docks : the 2 that we already mentioned (SoundDock II and SoundDock 10) and also the first model produces which is simply called the SoundDock). Being the first model it is probably not as good as the other two, so the price should have been smaller. But for our surprise the first model of SoundDock is actually more expensive than the second generation. This one costs 400 dollars, unlike the SoundDock II which is 300 dollars. We are not sure which is the logic in this, but we recommend to buy the second generation because it is cheaper, and has the same quality but with added features.



But Bose didn’t stopped just at these 3 models, and it also offers a Wave connect kit for iPod. This is a simple device, that has just a small dock for the iPod. But it comes with different types of cables (RCA and mini audio cables) so you can connect it to others speakers offered by Bose, or even with products from other producers. The wave connect kit costs 99 dollars, and it also comes with a useful remote control.



An example of a combination like this is the Wave radio II with connect kit for the iPod. So in this package you will get the normal Wave radio player along with the connect kit for iPod we mentioned before. So you will still be able to enjoy the music from the AM / FM radio offered by the Wave radio player, but you can also listen to the music from your iPod. The music device is a simple, one-piece tabletop unit which will give quite a nice sound. It has dimensions of 4.2 " H x 14.6 " W x 8.6 " D ( 10.6 cm x 37 cm x 22 cm ) and weighs 7.5 lbs (3 kg). the iPod connect kit will also recharge your iPod while its playing, and it comes with the remote control we mentioned before. The Wave radio II device along with the iPod connect kit will cost you 450 dollars.
