The iPod is the best selling portable music player device in history. It appeared in 2001 and since then it sold millions of copies all over the world. It is really popular among teenagers, but not only. It is a very small and easy to carry device that can store thousands of songs. Today there are many versions of iPods, and some are able to do other things beside storing music. Some can store photos,  games, videos, e-mails, calendars and so on. Here are all the iPod models: : iPod Classic, iPod Shuffle, iPod Nano and the most advanced model – iPod Touch. You can take the iPod anywhere with you (at school, at work, when traveling, at a picnic) and enjoy your favorite music.

Any iPod comes with a set of headphones, so you can enjoy the sound alone, without disturbing the people around you. But many people wanted to share the music from their iPod with others, so this way the iPod speakers appeared. These are some kind of devices where you can dock your iPod and it will give the music through its integrated speakers. When playing the music, this device will also charge it.

One of the oldest companies in the audio industry is Altec Lansing, and it is producing speakers and other devices since the 1920’s. The company has always been on trend and it had brought many inventions and innovations across its history. And actually it was the first company to produce audio docks for iPods. And since then it has come with many other models of iPod speakers, and this is what we are going to discuss about today.

We’ll pick just some of the many models of Altec Lansing ipod speakers, leaving you to discover the rest and share your opinions with us. A very cool looking model is the one simply called “MIX”. But this one doesn’t just look good, it also sounds very nice. It has both tweeters and mid range drivers, and also a side firing subwoofer meaning that it will give a rich sound through all the sound ranges. You will have quite a good bass and some nice high frequency sounds, making this speaker great for a picnic or outdoor activity, and even for a party. All the drivers, enclosures and electronics are balanced for an optimum sound. Not only that you can connect up to three audio devices to it, but you can also use it as a radio device. It has onboard controls and a high contrast LCD to let you see and control the music that’s playing. But when you are at a party, or a picnic, you might also want to change the song or the volumes from distance and this is possible with the MIX station because it comes with a wireless remote control.

This remote control even has a clip-on that allows it to be hooked to your jeans, so that you can join the party, and also be able to change the track, right from where you are. It can run with an AC cable, but you can also use it with batteries, for those times when you take it somewhere with you. It is using 8 batteries and it can run up to 30 hours of continuous playing. It also features multiple EQ modes to let your select the desired sound, depending on what music you are playing or the environment where you are. The cool looking device also has grab handles to easily carry with you wherever you go. The tweeter has 1 inch, the mid range driver has 3 inch and the subwoofer has 5.25 inch. The dimensions for the overall system are: 19.7 inch in width x 9.3 inch in depth x 7.7 inch in height. Enjoy it!

Now let’s move on to the next iPod speaker from Altec Lansing, and we’ll choose the inMotion iM3C model. This one is also a small and good looking device, which will also sound good. It’s compatible with all the iPod models, and will also charge your iPod while playing music. Even though this one does not have a subwoofer, it has the MaxxBass technology that will create a good bass, making this speaker sound much better. This one also has a remote control, allowing you to have total control even from distance. This device will require less batteries than the previous one (only 4) but will also last for a less time ( 24 hours continuous playing). It doesn’t have a carrying handle, but it includes a protective carry bag, making it easy to be carried around. Beside iPod, you can also connect this speaker to a computer, laptop, mp3 player, or other devices compatible with a 3.5 mm jack. It has 8 inch wide x 1.1 inch depth x 5.5 inch high and weighs just 15 ounces.

Now let’s talk about the model called T 612. This is also a high quality iPod speaker, with quite a nice power. It has 60 watts of power RMS and 120 watts peak, meaning that it will easily fill the room with a nice sound. And it is also great for outdoor. You can also connect your iPhone to it, and it is immune to mobile phone interference. So when the phone rings, there won’t be any annoying noises on the speakers. When a call comes in, the music will stop, so you can hear the phone ringing.  This one has a deep and powerful bass, without even having a subwoofer and a useful remote control enjoy it!
